Overview

Experience the origin of much of the arts, philosophy, language, politics, and sports of western society in historic Greece. Step into the ring where Olympians first competed, contemplate the oracle’s insights from the grandeur of Delphi, or take in a starlit drama at an ancient outdoor theatre.

However - with a mix of old and new - you may suddenly encounter bold modern art, the melancholic throb of rembetika (blues songs) and artisans creating new work from traditional techniques.

From trekking to lazing on a sandy beach - Greece has you covered. From sea speckled island beaches to cycling through forests or hiking up a volcano, there are activities for all. The more adventurous will find world-class kite surfing, wreck diving, and rock-climbing locations with dizzying views.

For the Gastro Traveller, although Greek cuisine does feature feta and olive oil universally across the country, unique regional produce and cooking styles make travelling here an absolute adventure. From mussels steamed in ouzo, bread baked with olives, fresh fish straight from the sea or Taste-testing local feta or honeyed soft cheeses.
