Lake Garda is located in the north-east of Italy, dividing the regions of Lombardy, the Veneto and Trentino Alto-Adige. The large lake is long and slim, with a rolling southern lakeshore dotted with local towns.  In contrast, the dramatic fjord-like northern end is surrounded by towering mountains and cliffs. The beautiful lakeside towns are well-connected by small boat services.  It is as much a paradise for walkers, bikers and sailors as it is for those who just enjoy the stunning mountain scenery.

 

In the evening you can join in with locals who meet and walk down by the lakeside. There is a wide selection of good restaurants for every palate, late-opening shops and busy bars.   There is a wonderful selection of local foods and the olive oil and lemons are particularly renowned.  Lemons have been grown in this area over a thousand years and the area referred to as the “Riviera dei Limoni”.  There are world-famous lemon-houses to visit, with high walls to protect the trees from the cold north-easterly winds.

 

Sirmione is on the southern shore of Lake Garda, is a pretty town near the end of a long promontory steeped in history, with a moated castle - the Rocca Scaligera.  Sirmione narrow medieval streets bustle with colour and life; the tiny town is a popular and very beautiful holiday destination. At the very tip of the peninsula green lizards scuttle over the extensive remains of a grand Roman villa. 

 

The area is well served by local and national public transport and Brescia Airport is only about 20 km away.  Trains run frequently to Verona, which is only about 20 minutes travelling.  If you need help with hotels there, we would be happy to provide you the best offer.
